| 'Real American Folk' is the acclaimed, new BBC Radio Scotland radio series, presented by recording artist, Dean Friedman, dedicated to the songs, the spirit and the stories of the Hudson River Valley region in New York (and beyond). Now in it's second year, the show features the artists/musicians whose songs and stories paint a vivid picture in lyrics and music of this beautiful region, just as painters of the Hudson River School did in oils and water colors, a century before. The series features music segments dedicated to seminal folk artists, traditional and contemporary, including Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, John Prine, Loudon Wainwright III, Christine Lavin, Steve Forbert, Priscilla Herdman, Vance Gilbert and David Bromberg, as well as a host of talented, new local artists such as Phoebe Kreutz, New Middle Class, Dan Pelletier, Lach, Red Molly, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Sometimes Why? and Motherlode. |
